In the world of coffee, women are the often-overlooked force behind your morning cup. From planting and harvesting to processing and quality control, they make up 70% of the labor force in coffee production (ICO). Yet, despite their vital contributions, many women still face barriers to earning a fair income and accessing the resources they need to thrive. In the countries where we work, women need allies—partners who champion equality and create space for their success.

Bridging the Gap
In many coffee-growing regions, men often have greater access to land, financing, and training opportunities—giving them a head start in growing their businesses. Women in agriculture, on average, earn 18.4% less than their male counterparts, making just 82 cents for every dollar men earn (WFP). These gaps limit opportunities for women to invest in their farms, access education, and build long-term financial security.

💰 When women earn, everyone benefits.
Studies show that women reinvest up to 90% of their income back into their families and communities (UN Women). This means better education for children, improved healthcare, and greater food security—creating a ripple effect that strengthens local economies. In coffee-growing communities, farms become more productive, and families more resilient, when women have equal access to financial decision-making and leadership opportunities.

🌱 Supporting women coffee farmers fuels economic growth.
Investing in small-scale agriculture, where women play a central role, is two to four times more effective at reducing poverty and hunger than any other sector (Oxfam). When women are given equal access to training, financing, and land ownership, they can increase their yields, boost their incomes, and drive meaningful economic growth in their communities.

At &BACK COFFEE, we believe that empowering women coffee farmers is not just the right thing to do—it’s smart economics. That’s why we partner directly with Fairtrade cooperatives that prioritize gender inclusion, provide financial literacy training, offer agricultural education, and create leadership opportunities for women.

Every cup of &BACK COFFEE supports this impact—because when women thrive, communities flourish.
